hot for here
It's warming up here in Toronto. Coupla days of plus 30 degrees. But I haven't actually broken a sweat yet. Mind you, there have been government heat warning. Ah, Canada! Hey, a pro-Canadian beaurocracy moment today: I applied yesterday for Ji's emergency birth certificate to be issued and the nice guy at the office there let me know that it would be sent out Wednesday night from Thunder Bay and that this was the first day (ever!) that the Thunder Bay office would be handling the urgent requests. "Oh no," was my reply to that information. Who ever heard of an office getting a new job and doing it properly? Especially a government office. But allow me to Stand Corrected. This morning at 8 am (and this is Tuesday, the day before Wednesday) the Purolator man dropped by Mum and Dad's with the birth certificate. Like, that's less than 24 hours. Man, please send good vibes up to the big city of Thunder Bay where they git stuff done.
After receiving the birth certificate I raced over to the passport office, had a nice chat with the kindly info guy, and in less than two hours I had my application processed and had been assured that the new passport would be ready on Friday morning. Now, all we have to do is get the Indian visas. Easy peasy, right Turner? Ash? Not so hard, huh? We'll just drop by the consulate and it will go smooth as silk...
