congratulations emma & adam!
Well, a marvellous time was had by all at Adam and Emma's wedding!
Clearly they have all the forces of nature at their beck and call because, man, everything went perfectly. Getting hitched without a hitch, that's them.
We went up to Don and Frances' place on Friday morning after Seung Yi got herself all tired out and was ready for a drink and a nap. It was fun having only to go as far as Orangeville. Felt like a jaunty drive in the country rather than our usual 3 hour pedal-to-the-metal speedfest on our way up to our own house. Frances put us up in her gorgeous addition, very lucky for us. Somehow we Niedzwieckis managed to use up the entire new wing of the house. Phet kept saying it was so beautiful and fresh and light he felt like he was in a detergent commercial.
On the Friday night we enjoyed an extraordinarily delicious rehearsal dinner at The Globe in Rosemont. Seung Yi ate almost a whole bowl of full cream corn chowder with bacon (mmm, bacon) and we all just sat around eating and eating and playing musical chairs. With very full tummies we headed back to Mulmur. I had kind of expected that I'd get to have a little quiet time to myself once Seung Yi went to sleep but instead she was awake until 12:30. Phet and I kept trying to pretend to be asleep and she'd sit up, grin, and shout to play the wake up game. Greeaaaaat.
The next day dawned sunny and without a single cloud in the sky. The rest of the day was crisp and clear and sunny and could not have been better. Everyone ran around doing last minute jobs (signs! goodie bags! table cloths! advil!) and then we started gettin' our hair done after lunch. Elizabeth the super trooper did Mum's hair, Em's hair, my hair, Jodi's hair, Hannah and Sarah's hair, Frances' hair, and her own hair! Think that must be some kind of world record. And we all looked real purdy. In the afternoon there was a tizzy of make-upping and groomsmen rustling, and by 4 o'clock we were ready to start the proceedings. At 4:45 we actually got going, with Emma looking as gorgeous as could be. We made our way down to the food tent and with the reverend beckoning us anxiously, we made our way down the aisle. Ji was serious and slow and walked the ring cushion down with the precision of a master clock maker. From, like, Switzerland. Emma came down a-smiling and she and Adam said their vows to one another, and then before we knew it they were MARRIED!
In the evening we all had a great time catching up with friends and family and enjoyed the spectacular 360' view around the MacFarlanes' magnificent estate. There were many beautiful ladies decked out in pretty summer dresses (pretty lady shout-outs to Daryl and Katherine! To Rachel and Lexi! and to Darleen and Ed!) and menfolk looking all dapper in tuxes and suits and linen ensembles. We supped on delicious roast beef and incredibly yummy gluten free desserts. I ate waaaay too much chocolate mousse and had to sit and chat with Grampa Paul for a half hour before I could actually stand again. After dessert everyone drank a little more and went out to the garage a little more (thanks, Nick & Phet, for all your helpful crisis management) and then danced alot. There were a few odd ducks in the musical lineup (Boot Scootin' Boogie??) but the DJ covered alot of bases and the many different musical tastes of the crowd were catered to. By 1 am we were plum tuckered out and ready for bed, but happy as could be.
Very best wishes and all our love to the new couple. Adam, a warm welcome to the family! We love you guys!
