Seung Yi has been a barrel of beans lately. And I don't just mean that she farts alot. Which she does. But really, she is just going nuts with energy lately. Unfortunately this sudden burst of wild wakefulness coincided with her being sick with a somewhat feverish cold. So for the past three or four nights she has NOT been sleeping but she has also NOT been particular happy when she's awake throughout the night. We have to be thankful for the fact that she's generally a superfantastic sleeper, but it does make it surprising when she suddenly decides to cry when she wakes up in the middle of the night. Yikes! For some reason she has been only wanting to sleep in an upright position until about 2 am. Thus, Phet has been putting her in the Bjorn when I go to bed, and he does work with her in the Bjorn until after midnight. The problem has been that even when Phet is ready for bed, Seung Yi wants to sleep NOT LYING DOWN. Last night Phet sat up on the couch until he could withstand the tiredness no longer and he finally crashed into bed around 3 am.

We were both kind of concerned that what with the couple-days-ago fever, snuffliness, and surliness that perhaps princess was sick. We put off going to the clinic for a few days but I finally caved and took her in. Helpfully, Seung Yi looked radiant and cheery when we went in to see the doctor. I'm like, uh, my baby hasn't been sleeping so well at night. The doctor said maybe it was tummy upset as she may be taking in air with her milk now that's she's getting older and more physical, and asked how long she'd cried. I'm like, uh, a few minutes. The doctor said, well if it's more than twenty minutes of crying you can give her some tummy medicine. I'm like, TWENTY MINUTES? Are you kidding? Seung Yi hasn't ever cried that long. Then the doctor looked at her gums, which were fine and not-swollen. And basically the doctor's conclusion was: Your baby is getting older. She has more energy. She is changing. You may need to be up with her in the middle of the night. But while you're here, would you like to know of a good diaper rash cream in case you need it?
