the taj; 5 things i love about syPoor Phet has been dealing with my complaints about the new mac very kindly and gently despite probably wanting to throttle me not so gently. I am really not good at learning how to do new things when I already had an old way of doing them that suited me just fine. If it's all brand new, no problem, I'm happy to figure things out. But when I have already sunk in the time once and then have to do it yet again I am not happy. They say our generation is good at adapting to change quickly. Not me! But I am pleased to report that I can now do almost everything I used to do on my craptop on the mac. That is: surf the net for gossip, email, and post on this site. Today, after much teeth-gritting, I have finally sorted out how to create an album using iPhoto (which I HATE right now) and Photoshop. I'm going to make this one really clear so that aunt will be able to open this. Click here to see an album of pictures of Mum's visit to Delhi and our trip to the Taj Mahal. A few notes on the photos: in one, Mum is wearing the Phei bathrobe. Nope, not the Phet bathrobe, the Phei bathrobe. Mum ordered it online for Phet and on the website it was all plush and fancy and they said they'd do custom emroidery. When we got it, it was paper-thin and said "Phei" on the lapel. Snazzy! The picture of the flower by Ji was taken by Ji (duh) with his new Olympus camera, his birthday present from his Pa. Both the flowers were growing in our beeeyouuteeful garden. The picture of the monkey was taken on the way to Agra; there was a brief toll-paying stop during which the monkey man came over and made his monkey climb on our window and when Ji snapped this picture, he demanded 100 rupees. Boo, monkeys! (And no, we didn't give him 100, I think we gave him 5). In other news, Phet and Ji are off tonight to go to Toronto. They leave at midnight and have to brave the horrendous Delhi airport and get on a Lufthansa flight to Frankfurt. They've got a 6 hour stop-over and then they connect onwards to Toronto. Blorgh. Seung Yi and I have to do the same next week. Yecchh. Speaking of Seung Yi, I thought of the following while nursing her and snuggling her this evening before she fell asleep: 5 Things I Love About Seung Yi 1. She doesn't have to have a soother, but she does like one occasionally before going to sleep or when she's fussy. But what's cool is that she doesn't just have the sucky popped into her mouth and then suck on straightforwardly until she goes to sleep. Instead, she manipulates the sucky in twelve hundred different ways with her wee handies. It's very cute; she pops it in and out of her mouth, flips it up and down so that she can chew on the edges and then suck on the nipple and then gnaw on the little handle, and she passes it from one hand to another back and forth. Then, while she's playing with it she yabbers on and babbles and mumbles and mutters. 2. She never gets annoyed with Ji and vice versa. (Sure, I know, this will probably change, but so far they are both mighty pleased with each other). 3. She has lovely round arms with little pudge-ceps at the top. 4. When I get home from work she goes "Ahhhh!" and goes bananas with excitement, and then "tells" me all about her day. 5. She is a marvellously good natured wee thing. She wakes up cheery, she plays all day, and she goes to bed without much of a too-do. When she's annoyed these days she scrunches up her nose, makes a little piggy face, and huffs and puffs air in and out of her nose. She isn't quite as good as Ji was about going to hang out with strangers - she'll sometimes go to them for a few minutes, but then will usually kick up a fuss to be lifted away by Phet or I. But if she does start to cry, and even if she has real tears running down her face, as soon as she's in our arms, she'll turn and grin at the stranger and make cutesie faces at them.
