28 weeks

Hey, wait, isn't that a Sandra Bullock movie? Regardless, it also happens to be how pregnant me am. How are things going at around the six month mark? Very well indeed. I'm still seeing the very nice doctor, Dr. Jantra, once a month and she says everything's looking just fine. I'm getting a little ungainly and lumbering however. I can't see myself when I lug myself out of bed, but I feel like a horse stuck in a pool of molasses trying to get a foothold on a molassesy bank of mud. The problem may also be that I've kicked Ji out of his bed and am sleeping on his floor-based mattress. Not trying to get 'alone time' or anything as crazy as that; just happens that Ji's got the softest, squishiest mattress and it's much better for my back than our rock solid big bed.

Aside from the morning foibles, I'm doing great. Work is fine. I run around all day and keep busy doing things like teaching swimming (much to the great amusement of the kids when I have to exit the pool whale-like). I walk around lots with Ji. I am continuing to eat stacks and stacks. No major food cravings for awhile now, but I just have to eat every couple of hours or else I get shaky. I'm getting to be that nice size at which people on the subway recognize as a big ol' pregnant lady with a four year old, and immediately offer me a seat. So I got that going for me.

Here are a couple of pics from today, showing off the belly. Don't mind my evil scary look. It's hard to get everything synched right for taking pictures of myself - and when I smile at the camera on self-timer, the photos always go wonky. So here's me looking grim and grumpy, but really I feel all warm and sunshiney on the inside:

This is more like it:

And we did get some pics from the ultrasound a few weeks back, but unfortunately they aren't the cutest or easiest to figure out. The baby was kind of turned around in such a way that they couldn't get any of the usual adorable photos of things like feeties and face-ies. Instead, we got spine, spleen, and heart. All very worthwhile and necessary but not really the kind of thing the internet needs to see. Still, for what it's worth, here's a funky close up on the spine:
