things jhrs said: medieval pac man

- Yesterday I got Ji up a bit early from his nap at school.  I left school a little earlier than usual so that we could go and meet Phet downtown.  Since I'd gotten Ji up while he was still sleepy and we were rushing, I carried him down the alley from school to the main street.  While we were walking and he was snuggling his cute and sleepy face into my old and tired face, he told me that he really likes fancier cars better than normal cars. I said, "Ji, when you grow up will you buy me a car?"  He thought a bit and said, "I dunno."  I said, "Oh, come on, if you had a heap of money, would you buy me a car?"  He thought again.  Then he said, "Well, if I had a heap of money I would buy you a car made out of jewellery.  But then I would cover it with my everlasting metal [Ji has invented an indestructible metal while showering] in the shape of leaves so that no one would steal the jewellery." Cool, man.  How many Moms get a jewellery car covered in everlasting metal leaves?

- Ji asks, after we count up to a hundred, "Does counting ever end?"  Unfortunately he asks this before Phet gets into town.

- Ji comes in and sadly tells me, "I have lost the directions to my super powers.  I have lost the constructions in the desert."  Phet later tells me that Ji's paraphrasing from The Greatest American Superhero TV show, but until then I am pretty impressed with Ji's imaginative abilities.

- Ji tells me that yes, there is sleep walking, but even better, he can do sleep eating!

- Ji tells me while eating that "I have to chew it smaller so my little mouth can manage it."

- On the subway going to the weekend market last weekend we saw a big poster with a Pac Man game on it.  Ji was very curious and asked me what it was, so I told him that it was a very old video game, and explained how the little Pac Man had to go and eat the little pellets to get energy and to avoid the little ghosties or else the game would be over.  Ji asks about 14 more questions and then says, "So, Postman Pac was from when there were knights and castles, Mum?"  [note to readers, Postman PAT is a British animation show about - surprise - a postman named Pat] [note to self, must prepare a time line to hang on the wall so that after dinosaurs and knights in castles, there is a section referring to the DEVELOPMENT OF VIDEO GAME TECHNOLOGY.]

- After Ji got mad at me the other day (as he is wont to do, with his little temper flare ups recently):  "Sorry I sucked my teeth at you, Mum.  I accidentally sucked my teeth by accident."

- And lastly, I found Ji arranging his hair into a mohawk and viewing the results in his mirror.  He asked, "How do you like my mojock, Mum?  This monock is very cool, huh?"  Yeah, buddy boy.  You bet. [Ji Hong-6-April-2005]
