waiting and rehearsingWe are all in anticipation mode. It is possible that Mum / Gramma / The Best Mother In Law of Them All / The Nice Lady With White Hair Who Will Tip Me Many Rupees is going to come to Delhi! We are thrilled! But worried. Mum's hoping to come on standby, and you just never know with standby seats. However, as we've been saying, even if she doesn't get on, there's good news. She doesn't have to sit on an airplane for fifteen odd hours. And that's about as good as news gets when you're as claustraphobic as Mum. Really, we are so pleased that she's making the effort to try to come and see us. Ji has been asking me in desperation every day whether Gramma might be coming, and if so, when, dammit! In the meantime he has been working on his new and nerfarious money making schemes. The latest? Door to door masseuse services. Take One. Take Two. Seung Yi's reaction?
Ji's pondering varied thoughts these days. The night before Phet got home from his ten-day trip, he told me, "I'm going to build a Heavenator so I can go and visit heaven and see, like, Gramma Rita, and the Neanderfalls, and a sabre-toothed tiger, and I'm going to build a Hellanator and send all my enemies to hell." Good to know, that. Just now while eating a soft boiled egg and dipping toast fingers at 9:55 pm (we are bums, yes, to serve him dinner so late at night, so call CAS...ha, ha, no CAS here! Nanny nanny boo boo!) Ji told me, "It would be hard if you were half girl and half boy." I'd been talking to Ji about the fact that it is possible to be born this way. He went on to explain, "People would always tease you. You're the girl boy. And how would you know which washroom to use? And if you were mostly girl, they'd be like, Girl With A Beard! And if you became a Gramma, people would always tease you, like A Girl With White Hair and A Beard! So I think if you were half boy and half girl you'd want to take hormones to change to be all girl." We received excellent news today: Ji has been accepted (har, I wrote "acceptated") at the school where I'm teaching! He'll begin when the new school year starts at the begining of August. We'll be on holiday for June and July and then starting at school together. I am so excited. It's basically my dream come true at this point. Great job, Ji at the same school, and he is going to love it there...the libraries are amazing, there are three enormous pools, there are all kinds of great activities and events, the teachers are so awesome... The list goes on and on. And meanwhile, everything is going super well for me in class these days. I'm really happy with the two classes I'm teaching and am enjoying being back at work very much. But really, I have to say that the icing on the cake here in Delhi is having delivery ironing. Today we had all these clothes hand-ironed and returned to our doorstep for ninety cents. I can't tell you how excited I am about the ironing. It rules. Come see us so we can have your ironing done too! And Mum, be sure to pack lots of linens!
(That's eight shirts and three pairs of pants, just for the record. Never has money in our household been so well spent. Never.) PS: Hi Jake! Thanks for the emails! The ex-ANTM blog was hilarious. Loved it. Congrats on your show. Can you upload the film online? I'd love to see it. Big hugs and love to you and Ry. [Delhi-2-March-2007] |
