a prettier picture

Gramma Margie wrote in to Fixed Address to demand all copies of Snotty Nosed Seung Yi in order to protect her darling grand-daughter from future abuses...but we said NO WAY! We're keeping the files so that we have something to bargain with when she's an evil teenager. But to keep her happy (as we like to do, we're smart that way, as she's the provider of The Best Gifts For Grandchildren Ever) we will share a couple of nicer photos today.

But before that, a quick roundup! Things here are carrying on well. We are lucky to have Iaimon taking care of Seung Yi and keeping the house sparkling, and we now have John, the driver, in our employ. I must take pictures of them so I can share them and you have faces to put together with the names. Maybe tomorrow. Anyways, John is great; very calm, relaxed, quiet, doesn't appear (yet) to smoke and gamble like many of the other drivers. His wife works at the Australian embassy and they live on the grounds there, and he has a 2 year old boy. So far he is just great and puts up with Phet's "Hindi" singing very nicely. Speaking of Hindi, I had my first classes on the weekend. They are held in an odd basement level place, but they were just fine, and I made a few little friends with the other three people studying. There's a neat French woman with a 5 year old, and who used to live in Bangkok; a Malaysian dude who's a journalist; and a Taiwanese woman. I learned how to say Hello! Thank You! and Construction! and also Sugar! Meanwhile, Phet keeps John chuckling by saying "sister-f****r" in Hindi now and then at appropriate times.

We are also BIG FANS of the ironing man here. Our clothes are clean. But wrinkly! What to do? Send them out to the ironing man, who will iron them for 3 rupees each (like, basically free) and then bring them back. It. Is. So. Great.

Then, there's also the door-to-door phone bill payment service. Don't want the hassle of writing a cheque? The bill man will come and pick up your payment whenever you want. We also enjoy making use of the grocery-delivery service. And of course the food delivery services, though we are trying to cook a little more at home.

But sadly, I must go to bed. It's 10 pm and I'm wiped out. And so, the photos come anon.
