pictures for great gramma sayo
It is so cool! I talked Phet's aunt today and she said that Gramma Sayo has been asking her to check this site every day so that she can see new pictures of Ji and Seung Yi. How wonderful is that? How many over-80-year-olds do you know who have never touched a computer who suddenly want to get online every day? Not many I bet! So, just for Gramma Sayo, we've got several pictures going up today.
Things here are a little bananas at the moment. Phet's in Sri Lanka and has been super busy with his conference and meeting, and Mum is here with us. Thank god. For all the normal reasons of course, but also because today Ji came down with quite the fever and needed all the extra loving he could get. Seung Yi, meanwhile, was snuffling with a cold during the night a bit and decided that she really wanted to be awake -- and that therefore of course I had to be awake to keep her company -- between the hours of 4 and 5:30 am. Delightful girl. Then, at school, in my last period class all the kids who are usually super well behaved were suddenly acting like rapacious kindergardeners. I was baffled by their behaviour until I suddenly realized at the end of class oh yeah, it's Friday afternoon, last period. Duh. What kind of moron was I, trying to get them to do work?
Mum has been doing amazingly well here. She's actually slept (or so she tells me), she's been out and about every day, and already bought everybody's gifts. We're even planning to go to Agra on Sunday and go see the Taj Mahal. Ji was a little confused at first; "Why are we going so far away just to go shopping?" "Shopping? What are you talking about?" "Well, you said the Taj Mall!" Oh dear. But it should be fun, shopping or no, as Mum has booked us in to a plush hotel with free drinks, massages, breakfast, and TV. Right on. I've told her that I'll be checking out the latest videos with Phet and she can take Ji and Seung Yi to see the Taj. C'mon, we've got years ahead of us here. But TV only comes around once in a blue moon.
Last note before the pics: we're ever so luckily going to be heading to Canada at the end of the month. Phet has to go for meetings in Ottawa, and I am going to go see a specialist for melanoma follow up in Ottawa as well (things are still fine, but I really want to get someone's overall perspective on what I should be doing in the future, and to have them check out all the work that's been done and advice we've been given so far, and also to answer a bunch of the questions that I still have and that I couldn't get answered here). So, we hope to see you then! We'll be in Toronto from the 3rd to the 7th, I think.
And now, the photos. First, evidence that Ji really is in India.
He's posing next to the doorman at the Imperial Hotel. Ash recommended that we check out the high tea here, and we enjoyed it very much, but as she said, it's really the doormen that make the place stand out. Although there were two similarly-dressed fellows at the door of the Apollo Hospital, and one was at least a foot taller than this guy. But stupidly we didn't get a picture of him.
Here's Mum enjoying good times with the munchkins.

Dig our new mac! Thanks Phet! Love you! You rule!
Mum came to visit my school (and the school Ji will begin attending in August!) to see a circus performance there. She also encouraged me to do bad things. See?
She practically forced me to let Seung Yi lick this irridescent green popsicle. Bad Gramma! Mind you, Seung Yi was insanely happy with this unexpected treat. Later on, I entertained the baby in a slightly healthier way with the harmonica:
Lastly, a post-Holi picture of Ji comparing his fancy toes with his Gramma's pedicure:

Must run -- nose dripping -- can't reach kleenex!
