out & about
One of my kids told me I say "about" funny. I told him all of us Canadians have that handicap. Then I gave him a detention. Har!
Good day here, mainly since it was Monday and the wheels click-clacked into motion again. John came by at 9 and Iaimon and 9:15 and then I was at school until 2:30. Fun day at school as we had a poetry presentation during my health class and got to go check it out. Four local poets presented and they were pretty awesome, though a couple went over the kids' heads I'd say. The first dude was awesome though, he was a rapper and freestyled a fantastic rap made based on about 10 words the kids randomly came up with then and there, including the words "chicken" "cheese" "books" "joy" "hate" and "guns". Tres impressive. I was a little surprised because the presentation was organized for gr 5 and 6 and the presenters used some naughty words like shit, tits, and Guantanamo Bay, but the kids didn't make a peep.
This evening SY was a wild baby. She was bouncing around in her jolly jumper and screaming her head off. Not screaming-crying, screaming-shouting. Like AHHH! [pause] AHHHHHHH! [pause] GAAAGAAAHHH!!! I'll put up the video of her jumping and shouting tomorrow along with the tooth tapping one.
Today, a few pictures from times when we've been out lately.
Here's a cool one of a balloon man riding on his bicycle at a big intersection near our house:
Here's a picture Ji took while we were driving to Shanti Niketan on an ill-fated trip to find a shoe rack. Well, not really ill-fated, but we never did find a shoe rack there. But the photo turned out to be pretty cool:
Here's another out-the-window picture. I took this one when we were driving out of Agra. You can see the typical cow-by-the-side-of-the-road on the right:

And lastly, here's a picture that I took out the window of our fancy hotel in Agra (the one with the view of the Taj!). There were a bunch of employees setting up a big outdoor party with a Mughal theme, complete with fake Tajs, satin cushions for guests to sit on, a massive banqueting table, and a big stage where they were planning to have a song and dance show. I couldn't figure out what this man was doing for awhile, but then as I watched closer I could see. The lawn where the party was to be held was slightly bald in areas, and so this guy's job was to scatter previously cut grass over the grassless bits:
I call it Potemki-grass.
