jetlag
So, I just woke up from this crazy dream. I was, like, in this dreamworld of gin and tonics and beachbumming and cheese and then there was this terrible interlude of being enclosed in this stuffy and dry metal tube and then, um, I never slept and I was delirious, and I kept having to get up and play with a baby who wouldn't ever go to bed, and then there was this blur of having to work? Um, wait....that wasn't no dream! That was my actual life for the past few weeks. Duuuuude, I think I need to go back on vacation.
For all you regular Fixed Address readers, lemme tell ya that I am back in the saddle and that oh yes one day very soon -- maybe even this weekend! -- I will file away these old posts and get myself in gear. Hope springs eternal and all that jazz.
Today was my first day at school with my students. Kind of nuts as it was all classes in one day (instead of half one day and half the next) but all the groups seem great and despite the very steep learning curve that lies ahead for me as I undertake teaching Robotics I think everything will go just fine. Ji went in to meet his teacher with Phet today and he had good things to report about Ms. Seth and her classroom. The other kids we saw skulking about the class all seemed an inch taller than Ji (if not 5 inches taller) so perhaps it's just as well he's going into KG and not Grade One.
A couple of pics for you today. I call them "jetlag":

In the second one you can see the sleep whirlwind of Seung Yi, Laree, and Ji Hong, all conked out on our living room floor. Two things to note: one, we are thrilled to have Laree back with us in Delhi and two, we are moving quickly towards fulfilling Phet's dream of having one room in the house be entirely empty of furniture except for wall-to-wall mats. Sweet!
