a few more photosSince I can't get photoshop working on this sloooooow computer, I can't put up the usual photo albums, so bear with me with the possibly slow-loading photos here on the front page. Phet assures me that when we get the new computer (oh glorious day!) I will be able to sleep and the computer will update this site for me. And wash the dishes. It's been a long day here for us. Phet got up at 4 am to go to the airport to catch his flight to Thimpu, the capital of Bhutan, where he'll be on business for more than a week. He was flying the world's most fake-sounding airline, DRUK airlines. Like, is that how you feel after downing a bottle of home brew and smoking some potent Nepalese opium? "Man, I am soooooooo druk...I can't even lift my head up...." Needless to say there was a delay. First till 8:30, then till 9:30. Eventually they must've left because Phet called to tell us he'd arrived and that Bhutan was beautiful and mountainous and cold. No word yet on whether Kate Beckinsale's there as well. In the meantime, we woke up and got ourselves cleaned up and fed. Ji has a cold, so he was snorfling and sniffling all day, and I think now I'm getting it too. Yesterday he had a little temper tantrum when I suggested he was getting sick (using my brilliant Mother Senses to hear his scratchy voice, view his over-red lips and pale face, and notice his general unwellness) and I just couldn't resist saying I Told You So this morning. Probably a bad move on my part but sometimes it's just so hard not to do. I made an effort to feed him properly today and cooked up some nice rice, eggs, and fresh veggie soup for lunch. After lunch we walked over to Khan Market to get a few things and to enjoy the lovely weather. Khan Market (this is for you, Mum) is sort of two block series of shops, semi strip mall style, with smallish shops selling all kinds of things from stationary to sweets, books, athletic wear, and so on. It's kind of richie-rich, but doesn't really look that way to me. We picked up some medicine for Ji (cheap!), some Blutack (expensive!), two chickens for making chicken soup (cheap!), and four rasmalai and four sweets (monetarily cheap but really expensive in terms of the cost of me having to soon buy a few muu muus to swathe myself in because I will no longer fit into actual "clothes" what with the amount of milk fat I'm ingesting here). Then we walked back home. In the afternoon we enjoyed some football in the park across from our house and went to buy veggies and fruit from the fruit and veg boy. This evening was a thrilling sequence of eatings and snifflings. But rather than whine, let me share some more pics of our environs. First up, the living room!
This was taken late in the afternoon, so the greenery outside the doors doesn't shine quite as much as usual, but you get the idea. The furniture was all designed by Phet and is super nice. The backless seat in the foreground is what Ji calls his "Egyptian bed", and on it you can see the baby toy Mum ordered from Taj online. Around the patio doors are the christmas lights that Karen and Bauer bought for us. We love, love, love them! (And Bauer, if you're reading this, it was a fine pleasure indeed to talk to you before I left. Thanks for the call!) The main door into the house is to the left of the patio doors inside a hallway. Opposite the living room (like, passing through the hallway) is the bedroom:
Phet also picked out this great bed. You can't see them, but there are drawers under the bed and there are SECRET drawers inside the headboard. I think the bed is the greatest! You can see Seung Yi in the middle of the bed looking towards the place where we change her and where all her toys are. You may also be able to make out Ji's bed. Which is at the foot of our bed. Yeah, I know. The whole lab / bedroom thing. Buuut he got a fever one night and we moved him into our room and now none of us want him to go back. His room is so faaaar away... Here's the community centre. Ji's playing with some kids:
Meanwhile, Seung Yi is "enjoying" sitting in her stroller:
Has life ever been so grim? And check out her wrist chub! I have got to get a close up shot of that! Lastly, just for fun, check out this video of Ji zooming downhill on the "sgootr" his Gramma sent for him. [Delhi-20-January-2007] |
