how many questions do you answer every day?
Cause lately I'm thinking that I'm averaging about 17 per minute, which would work out to - let's see, 17x(60x8.5)=8670. I answer about eight thousand six hundred and seventy questions each day at school.
Is it any wonder that when I get home I have to take an hour-long silence break? And those 17 questions per minute are not systematically asked and answered. Usually, I get about 2 words into one answer when the next question is asked, at which point I ask questioner number two to wait a moment, and then questioners 3, 4, and 5 jump in, and numbers 6 through 17 are not far behind. I'm all for the whole inquisitive-kids-are-smart-kids thing, but sometimes I wouldn't mind posessing a stun-switch at my desk that would turn the kids' brains into marshamallow for just five minutes, transforming them into non-sentient beings who were incapable of giving a hoot about having a sharper pencil, a different colour of paper, or an explanation of why volcanic ash comes in different sizes. Just for five minutes! [Bangkok-24-June-2005]
